Masha Art presents Bond to Bachchan, a solo exhibition by Jenny Bhatt, traversing the rich cinematic terrain of two cultural titans - James Bond and Amitabh Bachchan. The exhibition embarks on a journey exploring the cultural footprints of these veterans, whose influence remains deeply etched in both global and Indian popular culture. Bhatt, a new media artist since the late ’80s, brings her pop-surrealist sensibilities to celebrate the suave charm of Bond and the multifaceted persona of Bachchan.
In Bond to Bachchan, Bhatt reflects on the golden years of cinema, a time when both Bond and Bachchan united the masses under one banner through their larger-than-life personas. Integrating interactive digital installations, augmented reality (AR), and mixed media works, the exhibition creates an immersive and multi-sensory experience with art that is relatable and imagery that is pervasive. It features 12 AR-activated paintings and 15 animations within the interactive installation as it peels away layers of cinematic brilliance, celebrating the enduring magic of cinema and its iconic narratives.
“I came to experience humour and pop art as so much more accessible because they are about everyday things and universal experiences. Abstract art on the other hand, is subtle, yet isolating in a way, as it is more conceptual.”
- Jenny Bhatt
