Suvigya Sharma (b. 1983), a native of Jaipur, comes from a storied lineage of Nathdwara painters that spans over a century. Deeply embedded in India’s artistic heritage, he embarked on his artistic journey at the age of seven. With a profound passion for miniature art that runs through his blood, Sharma seamlessly integrates traditional techniques into his diverse body of work.

Sharma, a distinguished third-generation artist, has dedicated over two decades to reviving and redefining Indian miniature art. Known for his seamless integration of 24-carat gold leafing and meticulous detailing, he has become a master at blending traditional techniques with contemporary motifs. His work presents a refined version of Tanjore paintings, standing out for its timeless quality. Sharma's diverse oeuvre spans portrait miniatures, Tanjore paintings, and fresco work, often depicting mythological narratives, regal portraits, and modern themes. His commitment to preserving folk-art styles drives him to use almost the same techniques in each piece, developing a unique Suvigya Sharma version of Tanjore art. His dedication to traditional methods, such as using handmade brushes and natural vegetable dyes, ensures the continued appreciation of miniature art, a form that has thrived for nearly 5,000 years. Notably, Sharma’s innovative approach extends into the digital realm with his ‘Perishious’ NFT series, merging traditional Pichwai art with hyper-realistic 3D backgrounds to spotlight endangered wildlife.

Educated at Maharaja Sawai Mansingh School, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Vidyashram, and Symbiosis International University, Sharma is celebrated for his significant contributions to art. He established the Suvigya Sharma School of Art to safeguard folk art and techniques while supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Sharma also mentors emerging artists across the country and has received prestigious awards such as the Bharat Gaurav Award (2012), the Rajasthan Gaurav Award, and the Pride of Rajasthan Award. He is also set to receive the President’s Award. Notable exhibitions featuring his work include ‘Enticing Pichwais’ (2021), Illuminations (2018), Reminiscence (2018), The Art of Royals (2016), Timeless Miniature Art (2016), and Mythologies of India (2009). Sharma’s art has been featured in historical restorations at sites like the Jaipur City Palace and the Singapore Art Museum. His works are housed in the collections of esteemed individuals, including the President of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and celebrities like Rani Mukerji, Kangana Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt, Sachin Tendulkar, and Justin Bieber. Recognized by the Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records, and Limca Book of Records, Sharma also supports Jaipur's youth through his wife’s NGO.
