Amar Sultan (b.1977) born in the serene town of Mussoorie, discovered his lifelong passion for art under the gentle guidance of his father. From his early years, art became a vital part of his existence, nurtured by the hands of his mentor and father. The flight of pigeons, their delicate wings and soft cooing, captivated his young mind and became the muse of his artistic journey. These avian companions, symbols of love, peace, and hope, mirrored the rhythm of urban life, weaving their presence into the fabric of his creations.

Sultan’s canvases are a symphony of colors, harmoniously blending blues and reds for human subjects, while whites, yellows, and golds breathe life into his avian muses. His color palette embodies peace, harmony, and the seamless coexistence of birds and humans. The reds and pinks signify love, while blues reflect serenity. The humans in his paintings often hold flutes, comparing the melodious cooing of pigeons to the tranquil tunes of the instrument. His golden birds, symbolizing timeless wisdom, and white pigeons, emblems of peace, convey messages of harmonious living. Through his art, Sultan juxtaposes the urban cacophony with the soothing presence of these birds, advocating for a peaceful cohabitation.

Educated with a B.A. and M.A. in Arts from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Sultan's academic foundation enriched his artistic vision. His works have been showcased in numerous solo exhibitions, including "It's a Numbers Game" at Gallery Ragini, New Delhi in 2011, and in group shows like "Duo Show, Bet on Life" at Gallery Joie, The Metropolitan Mall, New Delhi in 2011. His art has also graced prestigious venues such as The Marriott, Gurgaon, and India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Sultan’s contemplative themes and serene aesthetics have garnered acclaim, solidifying his place in the contemporary art scene. His brushstrokes, reminiscent of mosaic art or stone sculptures, lend his paintings a textured depth, drawing the observer into his tranquil world.
