S. Kumar, (b.1980), is a celebrated artist from Tamil Nadu, India. His upbringing in this culturally rich state has profoundly shaped his artistic vision, infusing his work with a deep reverence for the region's traditions and mythology. Kumar’s personal journey and immersion in Tamil Nadu’s vibrant cultural landscape have greatly influenced his approach to art, imbuing it with a unique sense of historical and cultural significance.

Kumar’s artistic approach is marked by a precise and time-honored technique, focusing on the rich tapestry of Hindu mythology. His oeuvre primarily showcases divine figures and scenes from ancient texts, rendered with remarkable attention to detail and historical fidelity. Each piece not only highlights the intricate beauty of the deities but also serves as a medium for exploring deep spiritual and historical narratives. Kumar is an accomplished artist and art director with a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the Government College of Arts, Chennai, where he graduated with top honors. His formal education was supported by a scholarship from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in (2003). Kumar's distinguished career is highlighted by prestigious awards, including the State Award from the Lalit Academy, Chennai (1998) and the Vijaya Rathna Award (2006). His artwork has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions both in India and internationally, including the Gana Art Gallery, Singapore (2004), Exhibition E.4 Entertainment at Dubai Global Village (2008), and Fun Food Village in Delhi (2009). His extensive exhibition history also features Apparoa Gallery, Lalitkala Academy, and Uttley Art Gallery in Singapore. Kumar's notable contributions to the art world extend to his role as an art director, where he has been involved in various significant projects and art camps in Kumbakonam (1999), the Batik Camp in Kumbakonam (1999), and Artist Night in Chennai (2000). His works are also part of prestigious collections at Tupe Investment of India Limited, Delhi Art Gallery, and The Residency Hotel in Dubai.
