Shovin Bhattacharjee (b. 1976) is a distinguished artist from Shillong, Meghalaya, celebrated for his diverse oeuvre that spans painting, sculpture, digital art, and installations. His work explores the nuanced relationship between technology and daily life, carving a unique niche in both Indian and international art scenes. His art embodies a distinctive dialogue between historical context and futuristic vision through distorted reflections and thematic explorations of technology's impact, seamlessly bridging modernism and surrealism.

Bhattacharjee's artistry is characterized by recurring geometric motifs and dynamic transformations, creating a vivid portrayal of a world in flux. Employing a diverse array of techniques, from super-realistic paintings to intricate digital installations, his sculptures—often crafted from stainless steel—exhibit a masterful manipulation of this challenging material. Through intricate cuts and folds, he creates fluid forms that juxtapose the rigidity of metal with the grace of organic shapes. These sculptures, much like his acrylic paintings, play with light and shadow, creating a sense of movement and transformation. His thematic focus on alienation, explored through surreal and satirical lenses, delves into the existential and societal implications of technological advancements, reflecting a complex interplay between the animate and inanimate, as well as the transient nature of identity. Bhattacharjee’s creations are marked by a keen understanding of spatial organization, with sculptures harmoniously blending form and color to create intricate labyrinths of introspection and transformation.

An alumnus of Assam University, Bhattacharjee holds both a BFA and MFA in Fine Arts. He further honed his skills through specialized training at the National Research Laboratory for Conservation in Lucknow. His artistic excellence has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the All India Platinum Artist Award (2017) and multiple awards from the Prafulla Dhanukar Art Foundation. Bhattacharjee's work has been showcased in prestigious exhibitions, such as his solo shows at the Indian Cultural Centre in Seoul and Alchemy of Art in New Delhi as well as notable group exhibitions, including the ‘Art for Kerala Flood Disaster’ (2018) at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. Bhattacharjee’s works have been showcased in esteemed collections such as the Modern Art Gallery, New Delhi; and across multiple locations including New Delhi, Shillong, Lucknow, and Kolkata; Indian Art Museum in Seoul, South Korea; and many more prestigious institutions. Additionally, his pieces are part of numerous private collections worldwide, including those of the Reliance Group in Mumbai, Kingfisher in Bangalore, and Infosys in Bangalore and Gurgaon.
