Sanjib Kumar Singha, born in Maidnapur, Bengal in 1975, found his artistic calling through his family's creative pursuits. Initially crafting windows, walls, and buildings, Singha evolved his craft to create palkis, figures, and illustrations. His journey from practical craftsmanship to fine art reflects a profound transformation driven by passion and self-improvement. Singha's dedication to art is deeply rooted in his personal philosophy, viewing it as a form of worship. Inspired by classical and folk music, his works resonate with musical tones, becoming a testament to his belief that art should communicate from the heart.
Singha's artistic style is characterized by the interplay of musical passion, architectural elements, and expansive spatial themes. His abstract compositions often feature horizontal lines and layered tones, creating a sense of depth and contemplation. Influenced by renowned artists like Jackson Pollock, Prabhakar Kolte, Ganesh Salvi, and Paul Klee, Singha's work balances controlled, premeditated layers of color with spontaneous, expressive lines. His meticulous process involves extensive meditation and contemplation, ensuring that each piece is a true reflection of his inner vision. Through his art, Singha explores the harmony between structure and fluidity, merging the tangible with the ethereal.
Trained at the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata, Singha has achieved significant acclaim in the art world. He has completed over 25 group shows and eight solo exhibitions, with his works being showcased in prestigious venues across India, Indonesia, and Japan. His recent solo show, 'Absolute Art,' inaugurated by the esteemed art critic Keshab Malik, further cemented his reputation. Singha's accolades include numerous college awards, certificates of merit for painting, and recognition at the Asia-Pacific level. His works are held in esteemed collections, reflecting his consistent pursuit of artistic excellence and innovation.
