Arun Pandit (b. 1971), a distinguished Indian sculptor from Patna, Bihar, embarks on an evocative artistic journey rooted in his early exposure to sculpting through his father, a murtikar. Emerging from modest beginnings, Pandit's work is deeply infused with the architectural symbolism of his hometown. Through his innovative forms, Pandit celebrates the dynamic essence of modern humanity and industry, revealing the intricate layers of the human psyche and the evolving rhythm of his artistic metaphor.

Arun Pandit's bronze sculptures evoke a rugged essence, reminiscent of granite and stone, yet are imbued with a masterful finesse that breathes life into his figures. Each piece emerges with a palpable three-dimensionality, akin to beings unfurling from their chrysalis. His artistry is a profound exploration of form and material, where bronze and fiberglass converse in a delicate dance, narrating tales of human resilience and the alchemy of realism interwoven with cubist elements. Arun Pandit’s sculptures embody a distinctive fusion of abstract and cubist-inspired forms, ushering in a new visual vernacular. His work masterfully melds human figures with hybrid molds, celebrating the vibrancy of humanity and the dynamism of modern industry through innovative casting techniques. His sculptures, whether they depict Couples or Musicians, are imbued with a rare chemistry that transcends mere physicality, reflecting the paradoxes and complexities of human nature. Through his work, Pandit challenges conventional boundaries and invites a dialogue that questions perceptions of reality, revealing the intricate interplay between form and essence. Pandit creates sculptures that not only represent but also reinterpret the essence of man and industry, showcasing a powerful blend of traditional and contemporary styles.

Arun Pandit earned his bachelor’s in fine arts from the College of Arts & Crafts, Patna (1992), and completed his Master of Fine Arts from the College of Art, Delhi (1994). His solo exhibition includes ‘Power and Pathos’ at Lalit Kala Akademi (2016). His work has been exhibited in prestigious group and solo shows across India and internationally, including Amsterdam, Italy, and Mauritius. A pivotal moment in Pandit's career was his commission for the Ashoka Pillar (1993), followed by notable achievements including the unveiling of ‘Garuda’ at Tirupati Airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi (2015). He has received the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award (2010) and the Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, India (2018).
