Carved from basalt, it presents Shiva in his Panchamukhi form, with the three visible faces—Tatpurusha, Aghora, and Vamadeva—representing creation, destruction, and preservation, while the hidden fourth and fifth heads symbolize cosmic balance. Nataraja’s dance on the left signifies cosmic order, and Yogishvara’s yogic pose on the right embodies transcendental wisdom, reflecting a rich fusion of Hindu and Buddhist iconography within this UNESCO-world heritage site.
