ABOUT

“Timestamps” by Sanjay Chakraborty captures the essence of Indian art and architecture, tracing its evolution from ancient civilizations to the present. Each artwork serves as a visual marker, preserving the grandeur of historical structures and their lasting impact on contemporary perceptions.

Since the dawn of civilization, art and architecture have been inseparable, with ancient Indian structures reflecting the socio-political and cultural essence of their bygone eras. Chakraborty, a self-taught artist from West Bengal, draws deeply from this rich heritage, translating these architectural "moments in time" onto his canvases. Using prismatic colors and textured strokes, his impressionist style chronicles India’s architectural journey—from the Harappan Civilization to modern cityscapes. His work pays homage to these wonders, blending light, shadow, and form to revive the splendor of the past.

In "Timestamps," Sanjay Chakraborty transforms architectural icons into vibrant, textured canvases that speak to their historical significance. His use of the palette knife lends each painting a tactile quality, echoing the physicality and grandeur of the structures. These works not only celebrate the aesthetics of architecture but also offer a reflection on the passage of time and the enduring legacy of these monuments.

This exhibition celebrates the timeless beauty of India’s architectural heritage, exploring the intersection of art, history, and memory through Chakraborty’s distinct artistic lens.
